I have lived in my now apartment for 6 months and there was only one lone painting hung in the whole place and that was it (our bedside tables are currently stacked up board games ... sad I know). The place is completely devoid of color and there isn't much "me" to be found around the apartment. Sure, my stuff is here but most of it is stored away or piled up in the corner. Photos of friends, mementos... all tucked away in boxes. I didn't seem to realize it until a few weeks ago when I was asking myself why I disliked my apartment so much. It finally hit me like a ton of bricks, I never made my apartment my home.
I am by no means a decorator but I do have a wee creative gene, and I love color and patterns but I haven't let that out. I haven't brought out any of my paintings, memories and mementos to spruce up my living quarters. Maybe it was because moving here at first it would have been hard to see everything that reminded me of home, or that accepting the fact that I couldn't paint the walls or mount tvs wherever I wanted was hard. Regardless I feel like I have woken up out of a decorating hibernation. I feel like I just took a huge bite of decorating pie because I am in full nesting mode right now (you would have definitely noticed that if you follow me on pinterest - sorry!).
We absolutely love the city we live in, Nashville has become our new home and we couldn't be happier. Next month we are moving into a new apartment in a fabulous part of the city (picture of the model apartment above). Now I absolutely can't wait to decorate! I have torn out countless pictures from decorating magazines and pinned numerous photos. I am so ready to turn my new one bedroom apartment into my haven. My birthday is coming up soon and I have been asking for furniture and furniture store gift cards (I know... no clothes! I may regret that decision later). So brace yourself because I will probably share with you all of my decorating inspiration and updates along the way because I am so flippin excited. (My "Mi Casa" and "Workspace" pinterest boards will be growing like crazy!)
I am looking forward to making my apartment my home. Coming home should always the best.
