Mother Nature vs Belle

You know those days when the 20 minutes you spent straightening your hair was practically useless? You might as well have just sat down and watched an episodes of the Kardashians instead. You know, the days when the weather decides that its going to dictate your hairstyle but forgets to tell you that. Well that is what is happening here. The wind caused my hair to turn into quite the hot mess. Oh well, you can't fight mother nature you might as well smile & embrace the wind swept look.

The First Step

So I have a problem. The first step to recovery is admitting it right?
Well I have an insanely ridiculous love for leopard print. If you walk into my closet the issue is apparent. Let me list just a few things that I have that are leopard: a dress, a coat, a pair of high heels, a pair of booties, a scarf, a pair of jeans, a skater skirt, a belt, a hat, a purse and even a bra (sorry, no blog pictures of this one ;). All I am missing is a sweater, a pair of socks, a beanie, & my collection would be complete.

Does one girl really need that much leopard? That is a good question, and my very biased answer to that is most definitely YES!

So am I alone out there? Am I the only one with a leopard obsession?!?

Patience is a Virtue

Good things do come to those who wait! I love fashion but I also love a great deal. Reason being is that if  bought everything I loved at full price I would be living on the streets because I would be broke, broke, broke!

So I have gotten really good at eyeing my favorite items & crossing my fingers to hope that they get marked down & then I pounce. Well that's what happened with these beauties. I drooled over them for months & when they got marked down 70% off I snatched these babies up & couldn't be happier. Being patient can pay off ;)

These are my new prey... hoping they get marked down soon too!

Am I alone in this or do I have some fellow sale stalkers out there??

On A Personal Note...

When I moved from Atlanta to Nashville I went through a bit of a shift. It was the first time I lived in a place that wasn't mine (I didn't own or my parents didn't own). Not only was it not mine but my living space was cut in more than half. I realized last month that I have mentally been boycotting whether I wanted to admit it or not.

I have lived in my now apartment for 6 months and there was only one lone painting hung in the whole place and that was it (our bedside tables are currently stacked up board games ... sad I know). The place is completely devoid of color and there isn't much "me" to be found around the apartment. Sure, my stuff is here but most of it is stored away or piled up in the corner. Photos of friends, mementos... all tucked away in boxes. I didn't seem to realize it until a few weeks ago when I was asking myself why I disliked my apartment so much. It finally hit me like a ton of bricks, I never made my apartment my home.

I am by no means a decorator but I do have a wee creative gene, and I love color and patterns but I haven't let that out. I haven't brought out any of my paintings, memories and mementos to spruce up my living quarters. Maybe it was because moving here at first it would have been hard to see everything that reminded me of home, or that accepting the fact that I couldn't paint the walls or mount tvs wherever I wanted was hard. Regardless I feel like I have woken up out of a decorating hibernation. I feel like I just took a huge bite of decorating pie because I am in full nesting mode right now (you would have definitely noticed that if you follow me on pinterest - sorry!).

We absolutely love the city we live in, Nashville has become our new home and we couldn't be happier. Next month we are moving into a new apartment in a fabulous part of the city (picture of the model apartment above). Now I absolutely can't wait to decorate! I have torn out countless pictures from decorating magazines and pinned numerous photos. I am so ready to turn my new one bedroom apartment into my haven. My birthday is coming up soon and I have been asking for furniture and furniture store gift cards (I know... no clothes! I may regret that decision later). So brace yourself because I will probably share with you all of my decorating inspiration and updates along the way because I am so flippin excited. (My "Mi Casa" and "Workspace" pinterest boards will be growing like crazy!)

I am looking forward to making my apartment my home. Coming home should always the best.

Collection Obsession

sunnies - forever 21 // henley - free people // jeans - free people  boots - sam edelman // lip - mac // earrings - kate spade

There are a couple things that I collect:
- lipstick
- boots
- my annual Free People henley
- and anything that has glitter on it

Well today I am wearing 3 out of 4 of those (no glitter!! I know, whats wrong with me today?). Lets talk a little bit about two of these obsession.

Boots - I love a great pair of novelty boots. You know, the ones that really only match about 8% of the things in your closet & have a tendency to be a wee bit outrageous BUT you will never, ever part! Well each year I usually add one great find to this collection. These snake skin Sam Edelman boots were last years addition. Here are a few I am eyeing for this year:

FP Henley - Each year Free People releases the most fabulous collections of henley's for the fall & I always scoop up atleast one. They are the perfect length & always have the most beautiful cuffs that keep them from being just another boring henley. I bought this guy as this years new addition to the collection but I would secretly love one more! Here are the others I am torn between:

Those are a few of my collection obsessions, what are some of yours? We all have them! So fess up & share with the group your favs to stock up on.

One Point For Me!

jacket - kate spade (similar) // sweater - j.crew (similar)
jeans - free people (similar) // heels - target // sunnies - forever21

Staying warm & still maintaining the cuteness factor isn't always easy as I would like it to be, but I am trying to find ways to beat the system! I'm trying to show "the man" who is boss :) One point for me today!

I also styled this jacket with my favorite cocktail dress (here). Happy Thursday!

Seeing Red at the Golden Globes

Two of my Hollywood girl crushes looked phenomenal in red yesterday at the Golden Globes. How fabulous does Taylor & Emma look in two very different takes on the classic black & red combo. Both of these outfits are to die for & I don't know which I like better. I think if I was forced to pick I would have to go with Taylor's... red lip + its a bit fancier & I love to be fancy! Which do you like better??

I have been on the hunt for a black & red dress combo after being inspired by these two! Here are a few of my favorites I have come by so far:

Bombs Away!

I am convinced that you always have one current obsession. You know, that one thing that your eye keeps jumping to when you skim a magazine advertisement or that one piece that you gravitate to in every store you walk in. Right now my current obsession is bomber jackets. My issue is that I refuse to get a regular, solid or two-toned one like most people, I am being difficult & gravitating to all the ones with a pattern! Patterns can be tricky though because I want something that is fun but still classic. I'm currently in love with this floral one from gap.

Here are a few more of my favorites....

There are so many great options out there! What is your current obsession?

Kick It off!

Hello Lovelies!
Happy 2014, I hope it is treating you well so far. I took a few much needed days off from the blogosphere because life got hectic around the holidays. For my sanity's sake I needed to breathe & cut down on my usual deadlines. The holidays are now over & a fresh new year is here! I am ready to roll & what better way to kick of the year then with my new favorite glitter kicks! Nothing says casual-chic quite like a pair of gold glittered Keds. I'm convinced I can take on any challenge in these babies, so bring it on 2014!!

Cheers to 2014, a year full of laughter, adventures & lots of glitter!
