I've Been Thinking

I have been thinking alot lately (that is my thinking face above) & thinking too much usually leads to crazy things. Well this time isn't any different.  For those of you who personally know me or who have followed the blog for some time know that fashion & style is my passion. I love working with people to help them find their personal style & to help them feel confident in the clothes they wear. Taking people shopping or doing closet makeovers has always been something that I love & I feel that I have a special talent for.

Recently I have done some personal styling & wardrobe consultations but now I am stepping out & choosing to make it a much larger part of my work & world. I am so excited because working with people to bring out their personality & voice through their wardrobe is what I love & I am so excited to do that on a more regular basis.

So if you or someone you know is looking for some help in the style department I would love to help! Personal styling/shopping or wardrobe consulting is what I have to offer & I would love to work with you! If your interested you can email me at: Holly@MyScuttle.com

Thank you so much for your love & support in my new ventures!

Splurge or Steal

splurge or steal: camel bootie

A great go-to fall shoe would be the camel bootie. It is just as versatile as a black bootie but the color pops a bit more & is a more friendly color. A bootie hits above the ankle making it not as warm or as much of a statement as a mid-calf or knee-high boot. This a is a great fall & spring shoe but the question is to splurge or not to splurge??

Splurge - Madewell Billie Boot - $228
OR
Steal - Old Navy Short Zip Boot - $36.94

Which would you pick?

A True Travesty

I just wanted to share with you a quick shot of yesterdays outfit (not the best photos, snapped them really quick before the sun was completely gone for the day).I wanted to show you this outfit for two reasons

1 - I bought this blouse on major discount at Anthropologie & completely forgot about it. A true travesty, I know! I had to get one good wear in before I could no longer pull off a spring print in the middle of fall.

2 -  Quilt patterned skirts - fabulous! Flattering, classy and very forgiving. This will definitely be a fall go-to piece. Mix it with a sweater, boots & a pair of tights & call it a day!

Splurge - J. Crew Calf Hair Cap - $298
OR
Steal - David & Young Print Cap - $16

Which one would you buy?

Trench It Up!

Lets have a real moment here... How is a girl suppose to start stocking up on the fall essentials when all of the summer cuteness is on sale!?! Come on, be honest. It's hard to buy a full-price sweater when that adorable summer dress is 50% off on the rack right next to it BUT you know that if you buy the dress its wear is limited for this year! It would just have to sit & wait until it can come out of hibernation for next spring. Let's find a solution to that problem shall we??

It is simple, take a dress into fall by
1) throwing a jacket over it &
2) wearing it with a pair of boots/booties.

Make sure to pick a jacket that is a fall color (so no hot pinks or neon yellows!). Pair it with a great boot that screams fall. VIOLA! Carry that dress into the fall season, you can even put tights/leggings on underneath the dress to carry it into the even colder months.

So don't feel bad when you snatch up that great clearance deal. You can totally validate it because you can wear it this fall.

dress - Red Dress Boutique / jacket - Banana Republic (polka dot gone but they have it in plaid!) / earrings - Carolee

Looking for some great dresses?
You should check out the Red Dress Boutique! That is where I got the striped dress I am wearing here (Its on-sale now for $23, thats 50% of original price!) as well as this maxi that I love. They have some great end-of-summer dresses as well as some in beautiful colors for fall! I am currently eyeing this beauty

Happy Dress Hunting!

Jaleh Interview + Giveaway

Hello Loveys!

I am taking a break from the usual fashion week craziness to share with you an exclusive from one of my FAVORITE designers, Jordanah. She is the gorgeous and talented, creative mastermind behind the fashion line Jaleh. She makes beautiful ready to wear pieces that can fit effortlessly into any woman's life. One thing I really love about this line is that all of the products are manufactured here in the U.S. but they are still affordable for the every day woman. Nothing beats promoting a good cause at a great price and looking fabulous while you do it!

Enough from me, lets hear from the designer of Jaleh, Jordanah:

*When did you realize you wanted to become a fashion designer? Once I graduated college and entered real "adulthood," my style and level of consciousness changed. I was always a lover of fashion, but I had a greater appreciation for craftsmanship, an eye for detail, and a desire to shop and support local brands. Once I started to explore my interest of designing and developing styles, I ultimately decided that I wanted to domestically manufacture styles that I wanted to see and felt deserved a place in the retail market.
*What was the first article of clothing you ever designed? The blazer with the sheer pleated back panel. That was my first design several years ago, well before we launched the collection. For years I had the sketch and concept ready to develop, so to finally see it come to life was one of my most rewarding moments as a designer.
*Describe the general process you go through to design and realize a piece of clothing. Each piece starts with an initial sketch and concept. The realization of the piece evolves as we move through the development process. Many times what's drawn on paper isn't always what works best for the style and the fabric, so often my initial design grows into something far greater than I ever imagined.
*How would you define the style your line exemplifies? Feminine, sophisticated and refined. Jaleh was intended to provide everyday essentials to keep today's modern and on-the-go woman dressed from day to night, wherever the day takes her.
*What are some of your fashion goals? Long term, I would love to expand the brand to include a lounge wear and comfy basics line.
*Who are some of your favorite designers? Oh, I have too many! The few that come to mind are Diane Von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, Chanel, Jason Wu, Givenchy, and Rag & Bone.
*What are some of your favorite fashion websites, magazines, or books? POPSUGAR and Refinery29 are my go-to fashion websites; InStyle and Marie Claire are definitely my favorite reads for fashion magazines.
*What is your five "must have" items for the coming fall season? 1. A cozy sweater- that's what our new Lily Crossover Jacket will be for me this season. 2. Leggings- I seriously put on our leggings in October and don't take them off again until Spring! 3. Boots- I collect boots like no one's business... riding, booties, motorcyle... I can never have enough! 4. Layering tank- I love to layer a tank as the base of whatever I wear in the Fall and Winter. I stick with our super soft 4-way tank: it's black, cappuccino, v-neck, and scoop, so it can be layered and worn with anything in my closet.  5. Scarf- this is a no brainer for Seattle... a scarf is the finishing touch on all fall outfits!
How would you like to win this beautiful top above? Well your in luck! Jordanah is so sweet & is giving one lucky Scuttle reader a Mia Peplum top to add to their fall wardrobe!! What are you wating for... enter before its to late!

Jewelry Dose

Hello Scuttle readers!
My name is Sarah, and I am the writer for Jewelry Dose, Max & Chloe's blog. I am SO thrilled to be writing a guest blog on Scuttle. I have been a fan of Holly's for a while now, and I love pouring through her posts for her style tips, inside scoop of her travels and her absolutely beautiful pictures!

I decided to write about some new fall jewelry trends for my post, "Top 5 Fall Must-Haves" - I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Fall is here! Time for autumn leaves and fresh fashions. With the change of season comes new trends and must-have items. There are so many hot pieces out there and it's tough to let go of your favorites. If you're looking to totally revamp your look this season or just want to be inspired, Jewelry Dose is on the case. We've tracked down five fall must-haves. Check them out:

1) Something PINK. Get in touch with your feminine side this Fall and rock some lovely pink jewelry with your leather jacket and black booties. The contrasts are so hot. The lighter the pink the better. We're loving Didi Jewellery Gold Pink Opal and Topaz Starbright Bracelet.

2) A gold bangle. A gold bangle is the type of piece that – if you buy the right one – can last you a lifetime and is always in style. Favored by celebs like Zoe Saldana and Jennifer Lawrence, a gold bangle can be worn casually or to a fancy party, with a black maxi or a red cocktail dress. We're fans of Ija Designs Large Clasping Bangle Bracelet and Melinda Maria's Nailhead CZ Bangle.

3) Anything arrowhead. Arrowheads are one of those motifs in jewelry that are tough to pull off – but when you do, they steal the show. We like them because they're edgy and have a history behind them. Even Ke$ha digs them - Kesha Rose by Charles Albert Obsidian Arrowhead Meta Ring.

4) Alternative pearl earrings. Legendary Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer - who created the masterpiece "Girl with a Pearl Earring" - would wish he could start over if he saw the stunning alternative pearl earrings we have now. We're obsessed with these pearl earrings with a twist - like the Genevive by CZC Rose Gold Black and White CZ With Pearl Round Earrings - because they have that classic pearl touch but are incredibly contemporary, fun and versatile! Who doesn't love an update on an old classic?
5) A touch of turquoise. We adore turquoise this during Fall (and really all year round). Especially right now, as we transition from the season of the reality TV to the season of our favorite cable shows (final season of HIMYM!), turquoise is one of those stones that aids the transition beautifully. Its brightness is perfect for the end of summer, and it's richness fits wonderfully for oncoming Fall festivities. We love Tang & Song’s Sterling Silver and Turquoise Heart Ring.

Thanks again to Holly for being such a doll. Working with her was such a pleasure!
Xoxo,

Sarah
